Duncan C. Ramsey III M.D. & Leslie Storms |
Duncan C. Ramsey III, MD, is a fourth generation Dallasite
and graduated from Sunset High School. His undergraduate work was completed at Baylor University where he studied biology
and environmental studies. He attended medical school at the University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston. He
completed an internship in general surgery at Baylor Hospital in Dallas prior to returning to Galveston for an orthopaedic
residency at John Sealy Hospital at the The University of Texas Medical Branch.
Having a special
interest in knee injuries and sports medicine, he was selected for a fellowship training in arthroscopic and resconstructive
surgery of the knee under the tutelage of Robert G. Stone, MD, Clinical Associate Professor in the Department of Orthopaedic
Surgery at UT Southwestern in Dallas. Dr. Stone was a founding member of the International Arthroscopy Association and the
Arthroscopy Association of North America. He was one of the first surgeons to perform and refine the arthroscopy technique
in North Texas.
After Dr. Ramsey completed his fellowship in arthroscopic knee surgery,
he joined a group practice in Plano, Texas; however, he made the decision to establish a solo private practice soon after
this and has remained in this clinical setting in Plano almost three decades.
Although
his subspecialty is arthoscopic and reconstructive surgery in sports related injuries of the knee, his practice encompasses
all orthopaedic injuries. He was the team physician for the Allen Eagles High School football team for ten years and
has been the St. Mark's School of Texas wrestling team physician for over ten years.
Dr. Ramsey is the father of three sons and is an avid cyclist both on the road and mountain. He volunteers with former President
George W. Bush's annual Wounded Warrior bicycle rides and golf tournament. He also enjoys snow skiing, traveling, restoring
antiques and raising his Basenjis. His wife, Leslie, has a bachelor's degree in nursing and a master's degree in marriage
and family therapy. She works as a nurse in his office part-time and is a yoga teacher.
